Our Selection Process
Forum accepts under 2% of the tutors who apply. Every tutor on our roster has cleared a four-step evaluation designed to surface not just subject expertise, but the insight, judgment, and care that define transformative teaching.
Step One: Application and Portfolio Review
Our initial application covers your background, specialization, teaching philosophy, and service approach. We also ask that you submit instructional materials you've created, a sample client communication, and a short video of your teaching. We're evaluating career scope, values, teaching style, and company fit.
Step Two: Written Assessment
You'll diagnose a real student difficulty and share your recommendations for addressing both immediate and long term needs. We’re looking for analytical precision, synthesis in assessing underlying issues, and thoughtful tutoring program design.
Step Three: Live Demo Session
You’ll conduct a teaching session observed by Forum's subject matter experts, covering challenging material in your discipline. We're watching for clarity under pressure, adaptive instincts, the ability to meet a student exactly where they are, and joy in learning.
Step Four: Client References
We’ll speak directly with recent students and families you've worked with. The feedback must be exceptional.
Who Thrives at Forum
Our strongest tutors share more than academic expertise. They're preternaturally engaging, bringing material to life with clarity and enthusiasm. They are deeply invested in their students’ flourishing in holistic respect. They are voracious learners who view tutoring as a craft and a venue for life-long development, their students’ as well as their own. And they understand Forum's community of peers as a resource worth contributing to and learning from.
A Home for Talent
We built Forum around a simple conviction: the educators are the value. The company works for the tutors—not the other way around. If that sounds like where you will do your best work, we'd love to hear from you. You can begin your application here.
