One of the city's premier writing and humanities tutors, Nicky is a native New Yorker who graduated from Brearley as a National Merit Scholar and from Harvard as a History and Literature major with High Honors. With a double background in writing and editing fiction and non-fiction, Nicky has written frequently for The New Yorker and edited work by #1 New York Times bestselling authors. Outside of tutoring, she is a screenwriter and humorist who delights in finding the absurd in the everyday—a skill she brings into her sessions.

A former Harvard Peer Advising Fellow, Nicky has expertise in mentoring students of all ages in a wide array of subjects. Her deep background in the humanities informs her unique ability to inspire and incite the important interdisciplinary connections that help students of all levels succeed. Whether helping high achievers produce their most competitive work or energizing students in need of focus, Nicky emphasizes higher-level comprehension and skill-building as a way of encouraging students’ passion and genuine curiosity.

By helping students to break down key concepts into manageable pieces, see patterns and trends as they reoccur across disciplines and subjects; by pushing them to look beyond easy answers to convey deeper insights, she excels at getting the best work out of students at all levels of study.

As both a writer and an editor, Nicky specializes in helping writers develop the best version of the stories they intend to tell, then telling it in ways better than they believed themselves to be capable. Nicky applies these skills not only to her work in tutoring English and history but college essays as well, regularly placing her students in their top choice. With her warm sense of humor, approachable attitude, and empathy, she specializes not only in tailoring her approach to every student’s needs and talents, but in coaching their writing processes to be both more joyous and more effective.
