A double graduate of Yale (BA in English and MFA from the School of Drama), Alex has specialized in standardized test prep and general subject support at New York’s top private schools over the past decade. With her background in performance and writing, Alex is an outgoing, expressive presence who helps students not only understand a framework for their work, but also develop their own frameworks by taking agency and autonomy over the process; her goal is for students to leave each session not only with new skills and confidence, but with energy and excitement for learning itself. Alex prioritizes her rapport with students as both a mentor and a teacher to leave students feeling empowered, curious, and ready to challenge themselves.

Throughout her career, Alex has worked with students at schools like Brearley, Grace Church, and Fieldston, and has excelled both with top-achievers and students looking for a sense of purpose in their work.

She has worked with students of various cognitive profiles, including students with attention deficit disorders, discalculia, and test anxiety. Alex is known for her full dedication to families, often developing customized study guides and resources tailored to issues she’s seeing. In all cases, she operates under a strict belief that students who are engaged by the process of learning suffer less burnout, come away with skills for life, and are able to integrate skill sets for better results--rather than just reiterate the rote methodologies that any tutor or textbook could teach them.

Alex is also a playwright with a background in performance. Never afraid of tossing puns into the terrifying maw of teenage indifference, she sees humor as crucial for communication in her own works--as well as her work as a tutor.
